Keep talking...

Twice a week I hold English conversation "classes" at lunchtime for those able and willing to attend.  Tuesday's class is aimed solely at members of the Kyoto office, while Thursday's one utilizes the company's teleconferencing capabilities to enable anyone from the Kyoto, Fukuoka or Tokyo offices to attend.
Given the global nature of intellectual property and the dominant role of English in the world today, the classes are (I hope) of practical use to those wishing to polish their spoken language skills in our organization.  Personally, I really enjoy the informal opportunity this provides for us to chat together in English about a whole range of topics.

Mastering a language is no easy task, but I think there's a simple pleasure in being able to communicate in another language even at a basic level.  Mastery takes years - the important thing is to enjoy the feel of the language now and to keep on talking.
