Hogmanay!

Having been a very good boy this year, Father Christmas saw it in his heart to leave me a bottle of my favorite whisky under the Christmas tree of my apartment here in Kyoto.  Even just a wee dram is enough to transport you the 9000 or so kilometres from the Japanese archipelago across to the British Isles.  The experience is so real you can smell the sea breeze in your nostrils and taste the peat bogs in your mouth…

Our end-of-the-year party here at the Kyoto office will be held this evening – a great way to wind down at the end of the old year and gear up for the new one to come!

Incidentally, back in Scotland, the traditional name for New Year’s Eve and Day is “Hogmanay” – a festival of friends and family, fireworks and poetry, fireballs, whisky, and blazing Viking longships.

All the best in the Year of the Snake – beginning 1st January here in Japan – from the SOEI Kyoto Office, wherever you may be!
